MORE PLATINUM DISCO: 2CD

How much disco is enough? The answer is simple - There never is enough disco in anybody's life!! Disco is THE party music, it's fun, it's funny, ironic, stupid but most of all it's damn good dance and party music! The years 1973 to 1983 were THE DISCO DECADE. The year 1979 was THE year. It was the pick of the crop so to speak, the Grange Hermitage of disco if you like. The year of Chic, Village People and artists like Sister Sledge. Sister Sledge released the anthem "He's The Greatest Dancer" in 1979 backed by Chic, who also reached their peak during those years and released "Hangin'" one year later. Labels such as Casablanca took the world by storm with artists like the Village People, Donna Summer, Lipps Inc and many, many more. Disco was the next step from the soul years that had so dominated black and US culture in the 60's and 70's. Disco was a new style that just said "Hey, let's forget the past and get up and boogie!!" And boogie they did. Earth, Wind and Fire was one group that moved from black to disco across these years and their tracks like "Let's Groove" were the best dance records ever made. They are still be sampled and referred to by modern music culture. It was also during this time that hiphop and rap were developing within disco sounds. The arrival of the revolutionary Technics 1200 turntable in disco clubs allowed DJs to seamlessly match beats and "drop" bits from one record into another, acts like Sugarhill Gang produced their "Rappers Delight" and used all the latest disco hits from 1979 in their mix. This MORE PLATINUM DISCO package not only has the best of disco from these years, it also has some of the hardest to get - the sensational and so funky "It's A Disco Night" by the Isley Brothers, Tom Browne's "Funkin' For Jamaica" , Midnight Star's "Midas Touch", John Handy's "Hard Work" and the Village People whose catalogue is now no longer available. So savour the moment, put you disco shoes on and just get up and boogie!!
