Thanks to the newly developed four-step 'Switchover Zoom' system and the high-quality optical design incorporating a glass-molded aspherical element and a plastic aspherical element, this zoom lens not only ensures high-quality images, but also can be stored in a small space when retracted, thus contributing to the reduction of the overall body size. Its wide focal-length coverage makes it ideal for a wide variety of subjects - from spectacular landscapes to tightly cropped snapshots of distant figures. Its zoom macro capability allows you to take beautiful close-up shots from just 1.2 meters (3.9 ft.) away at the 150mm telephoto end for a maximum magnification of 0.14 times. The Pentax Espio 150SL's sophisticated multi-pattern metering system assures precise exposure control under varying photographic conditions. When it detects backlighting conditions, it automatically compensates the exposure to brighten the subject. Under extremely poor lighting or backlighting situations, it even activates the built auto zoom flash to provide extra illumination on the subject. The Pentax Espio150SL's 'passive' autofocus system ensures pinpoint focus on the subject, even when it is at a distance or behind window glass. The 'five-point' wide focus frame keeps the subject in crisp focus - whether it is positioned off center or when two subjects are set to the sides of the image. You can switch to spot AF mode to avoid focusing on unwanted elements in the foreground, or to infinity-landscape mode to fix the focus at infinity to capture distant scenery with great sharpness.
