Co-produced by Beastie Boys producer Mario Caldato and the band, Wales' Super Furry Animals follow-up 2001's critically acclaimed 'Rings Around The World' exactly two years on. More 'home made' than its widescreen predecessor, 'Phantom Power' was recorded in the band's own Cardiff studio and contains 14 brand new songs, including the single 'Golden Retriever'. Other standout tracks include the summery 'Hello Sunshine' ("Hello sunshine/Come into my life/In honesty/It's been a while/Since we had reason left to smile"), the metallic 'Out Of Control' and the epic closer 'Slow Life'. As always with Super Furry Animals and their patented brand of psyched-out leftfield pop exotica, the melodies soar, the arrangements confound and the hooks reel you in.
