Acclaimed UK electronica duo Underworld have done new mixes of their classic hit Born Slippy to coincide with the forthcoming release of Anthology 1992-2002 – a collection of songs from their career to date.
Born Slippy became a 90s anthem after featuring in director Danny Boyle's 1996 screen adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel Trainspotting. Boyle has condensed the movie Trainspotting into just four minutes to form an all-new music video to Underworld’s 2003 version of the track. Boyle comments: "The relationship between Trainspotting and 'Born Slippy' has always been a bit chicken and egg – which came first? With such a close bond there between the two it seemed a great but natural idea to combine them. It was a bold experiment that's resulted in something very different which is a wonderful homage to our original work."
The 16-track, two-disc Anthology hits stores November 17. The collection highlights Underworld's career to date - from the 1994 club hit ‘Cowgirl’, to the twin 1999 smashes ‘Jumbo’ and ‘Push Upstairs’, to last year's jubilant ‘Two Months Off’.
Also featured is the original version of ‘Born Slippy’, along with tracks such as ‘Moaner’, ‘Rez’, ‘Cowgirl’, ‘King of Snake’ and the down-tempo ‘Eight Ball’, previously only available on the soundtrack to Boyle’s 2000 film, The Beach.
